Setting up your stock
Start with groups, not items. Most shops never need to go deeper, and the ones that do can add depth later.
The fastest way to abandon a stock system is to start by counting every item in the shop. Begin with groups — “drinks”, “provisions”, “sachet water” — and only go deeper where the detail actually changes a decision.
- List your groups firstSix to ten is normal. A group is anything you would restock as one trip to the market.
- Put in what you have now, roughlyA count that is close is enough to start. The app tracks movement from here, so today's figure only has to be a reasonable starting point.
- Add items only where it mattersBreak a group into items when you need to know which one is finishing — usually your fastest sellers. Everything else can stay at group level for good.
- Set the units you actually buy inCartons, packs, pieces. Using the words you use at the market means you never have to convert anything in your head.
Once there is a week of movement, the app can tell you what is finishing and roughly how many days you have left at the current rate. That warning is the point of the whole exercise — not the inventory count itself.
Which plan
Stock by group is on every plan including the free one. Item-level depth comes with the paid plans; /pricing lists the exact limits.
