Getting started — first evening
What to do the first night, in about ten minutes. You do not need to enter any history to begin.
You can start MyKanti tonight without preparing anything. There is no setup week and nothing to import — the shop starts from today, and the app becomes useful on the second evening when it has something to compare against.
Do not try to enter last month first. Owners who begin by typing in history usually give up before they reach the present, and none of it is needed for the app to work.
- Sign in with your phone numberYou get a code by SMS, then choose a four-digit PIN. That number and PIN are how you sign in on any phone afterwards, so use a number you will keep.
- Name the shop and pick your languageEnglish, Hausa, Yorùbá, Igbo or Pidgin. You can change it later; it affects the app and the reminders your customers receive.
- Close tonight's bookTwo numbers: what came in today, and what went out. If you are not sure of the exact figure, put your best count — an approximate record you keep every day beats an exact one you abandon.
- Add anyone who already owes youOnly the people you can remember, with the amount. This is the one piece of history worth entering, because it is money still outstanding rather than a past sale.
That is the whole first evening. Tomorrow you repeat step three, which takes about two minutes, and on Sunday you get your first weekly summary.
